Bio

Crista Rock has always had her hand on a camera. She started shooting at the young age of 5 years old. Graduating high school at 16 she went to College that summer in Cleveland Ohio where she discovered moving pictures in her first video production class. At 19 she took employment at the Local College TV station and won her first TELLY award. At 21 she became Stage Manager at EDR Studios in Cleveland. New Orleans had always been her love and so at 23 she packed up and moved to NOLA and took a job as a Photojournalist at WDSU. After a long 8-year career, 2 Associated Press awards and 2 Press Club awards she ventured out on her own. Her first full-length documentary “NOLAbound” premiered at the JOY Theater in March 2012.

    Photojournalist/ Special Projects Photographer – WDSU/NBC New Orleans

  • October 2003 – May 2010
  • Shot & edited daily stories for newscasts. Traveled with the Saints NFL team to London, Seattle, Chicago, and Miami. Shot during and after Katrina for both NBC Network and WDSU. Worked with producers for long format informative stories. Shot, wrote and edited an ongoing year long documentary following a family of four as they struggled to rebuild after Katrina. These 5-minute long pieces aired once a week for a year on our special newscast.

  • Staff Photographer and responsible for building sets and for several shows; HGTV, Room by Room, Crafts for Kids, Gearheads, and America Quilts Creatively.
